Going the extra mile for attendees headed to the city that never sleeps

One of their clients, Daikin, have proudly been heating and cooling Australian homes and businesses for more than 45 years. They’re a trusted name in air conditioning and take pride in designing energy efficient, modern products that provide the ultimate in comfort for our everyday lives.
The brief
In December 2017, Veritas were gearing up for Daikin’s annual Dealer Convention that would take place in New York City in August 2018. The convention is an exclusive opportunity for Daikin’s elite dealers to celebrate their successes in what would be an incredible combination of festivity and leisure in the city that never sleeps.
Orion’s involvement in the project was comprehensive – from a series of emails, an event website with countdown timer, to a Pocket Guide, Travel Wallet, Event Guide and Foodie Gift Guide. Veritas were determined to facilitate the trip like the pros they are.
The solution
First things first, Veritas were keen to send the initial ‘register now’ email out to prospective attendees in December 2017 and our web designers got to work creating a thorough website dedicated to the convention. From the guest agenda through to details on guest accommodation, visa requirements and must-do’s when visiting NYC – the website covered it all in a stylish, functional and modern design.
Fast forward to June 2018 with just 3 months until the big event, and Veritas engaged Orion to get cracking on a series of email campaigns to go out to participants that ensured attendees were well informed of any new developments to the trip and built excitement in the lead up to departure date.
A ‘news’ blog was added to the website to complement email communication as well as a countdown timer on the website – an incredibly effective visual element in generating hype around the event.
Our designers then moved onto the printed aspects of the campaign including the artwork for a Travel Wallet which consisted of an Event Guide, Pocket Guide and a Foodie Booklet to facilitate participants’ NYC adventures, as well as other important information for delegates.
A simple, yet functional travel wallet was designed to effectively encase the package of printed material attendees would take with them overseas.
The Event Guide was a an A5 sized, 28-page guide that provided attendees with all the information they would need to know prior to the event – from where to enjoy breakfast, to remaining safe in one of the largest cities in the United States, this guide left no stone unturned.
The Pocket Guide was a custom sized 12-page roll folded guide designed as a compact go-to guide. It consisted of a brief day-by-day travel programme, which also included a list of all attendees and their respective companies.
The NYC Foodie Bucket List was created as the ultimate insider’s guide to the best kept secrets of New York’s foodie scene. A fun design with striking imagery showcased some of the most delicious cafes and restaurants the city has to offer, and with a range of vouchers offering discounts and freebies.
The response
From creating artwork for print through to designing digital components, the Orion design team had an absolute ball with this project! Veritas was delighted with the finished package, and their client was too. Holding the event in NYC provided some invaluable inspiration and this was reflected in the fun design.
